In Summer's Heart

You see Daisies, Sunflowers, Clover, Brown-eyed Susans, Elecampane, 

Toadflax , Chickory , Queen Anne’s Lace, Alfalfa, 

Crown Vetch. 

Mossy stumps, and ferns

Raindrops on ponds,

Wild turkeys  in  Timothy

Hay  bailed, wheat fields green velvet, corn high,

Oat field fallow. 

You hear the blackbird sing in the old dead tree.

You breathe still air sweetened by clover,

There you are!

Lured into summer’s heart.
